Johnson Leads Red Caps (SD) to Win
|
Alpha Johnson had a hand in Cedar Rapids defeating Glendale by the score of 13-8. Johnson went 4 for 5 at the plate, scoring 2 times and driving in 3 runs. Picking up the win was Matt Cook. He went 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits. The right--hander struck out 6 and walked 2. The second-place Quakes (WSH) have lost 5 straight games.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Red Caps (SD) grabbed the lead when Danny Bradford rapped a two-out single. Cedar Rapids was trailing 1-0, when Bradford hit a 2-run single off Nick Dumas to put his team in front, 2-1.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Johnson told the Cedar Rapids Bulletin. "Whatever it takes."
