Tourists Triumph in 2050 SAL Championship
A celebratory mood filled the air as the Asheville Tourists closed out the season with a 5-1 victory over the Greensboro Grasshoppers at First National Bank Field to capture the SAL Championship, 3-2.

Giving the Grasshoppers credit for a hard-fought series, Tourists players said they believed throughout the postseason that their "destiny" was to be crowned South Atlantic League champions.

"We felt like this was our year all season long," said starting pitcher Chris Lucas, who was named series MVP. "It was our destiny to win it and we did."

It was the 4th in franchise history. During the Southern Division regular season Asheville put up a 93-45 record and finished first.

"They're the champions and they deserve it," said a dejected Greensboro manager Antoine Duplantis. "We played good ball, they just played better than us."
