Durham Wins to Narrow Series Deficit to 2-1
|
At an age when most of his peers have hung up the cleats, Enrique Espino is still dealing.
The 38-year-old Indianapolis Indians hurler had a strong outing against the Durham Bulls in Game 3 of the IL Semifinal Round, but could not prevent his club from falling, 3-2. Espino threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, although the win allowed Durham to cut into Indianapolis's lead in the best-of-5 series. The Indians now lead 2-1.
Steve Popper came through with a big-time hit for Durham. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Indianapolis manager Mike Trout.
Game 4 is scheduled for Monday at Victory Field in Indianapolis.
