Cardinals Beat Pirates, 5-4
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals get after it.
With left fielder Devin Brutus leading the charge, the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-4, at Busch Stadium. Brutus was 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Picking up the win was Victor Lara. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits. The right--hander struck out 7 and walked 4. Sam Stacy recorded his 30th save for St. Louis.
The game hit a turning point in the bottom of the first inning, when the Cardinals were trailing 2-1. Drake Dean delivered a two-out 2-run single for St. Louis, catapulting his team into the lead.
Brutus told a St. Louis Gazette reporter that he was "very satisfied" with the win.
This loss makes it 6 in a row for Pittsburgh.
