Chihuahuas Claim Late Win
|
The El Paso Chihuahuas topped the Memphis Redbirds, 4-2, in Pacific Conference action at Southwest University park. The standout performance belonged to El Paso pitcher and Nashville, Tennessee, native Donovan Sizemore. The winner was El Paso reliever Moises Ocosta, now 4-6. The loser was Jeremy Steele. Tyler Burnett got the save, the 3rd for him this season.
Had it not been for Hae-young Kim, the results might have been different. In the bottom of the eighth inning, when the Chihuahuas were trailing 2-1, Kim hit a 3-run home run for El Paso, giving his team the lead.
"The vibe's good," said El Paso manager Eric Hosmer. "We've got to keep it going."
The first-place Chihuahuas, at 66-47, lead the Pacific Conference South Division by 2 games.
