The Toledo Mud Hens could not turn a fine performance from first baseman Dave Bonet into a win. Instead, the Durham Bulls prevailed, 9-3. Bonet went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Dante Ruiz was the winner. He's now 5-1. The loser was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Carlos Torrez. Getting the save was Luis Martinez, his 1st.

The Mud Hens had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Bulls going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old second baseman Joe Patton came to the plate. Patton hit a 3-run home run on a first pitch cutter from Toledo hurler Carlos Torrez. It was Patton's 10th home run of the year.

"Very good win for our guys," said Patton.

At 63-50, the Bulls find themselves in second place in the Western Conference.
