RubberDucks Sink Thunder, 2-1
|
The Akron RubberDucks locked up a win at Canal Park, knocking off the Trenton Thunder, 2-1. On the mound for Akron was right-hander Arturo Franco. He played a major role in the triumph. The win went to Nate Dodson in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Ivan Vidot took the loss. Picking up the save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Nate Mitchell.
Don Cooper said the idea of hitting a home run barely crossed his mind when he came to bat in the bottom of the seventh. Cooper belted a solo home run to stake Akron to a 2-1 lead. His 5th home run of the season came off Trenton pitcher Ivan Vidot.
Trenton manager Cal Drummond, after yet another defeat, said: "We need to recalibrate."
The RubberDucks go to 30-37, putting them 5th in the Western Division.
