Lynchburg Scrapes Out 8-6 Win
|
Getting a good performance from pinch hitter Jeremy Jackson, the Lynchburg Hillcats defeated the Winston-Salem Dash, 8-6. Jackson was 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Hillcats. Harley Cote sewed up the save, his 7th. The Hillcats improved their record to 44-39 by beating Winston-Salem.
Lynchburg used a timely hit from 22-year old center fielder Marcus Bookmiller to get the win. The third baseman delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hillcats on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was huge.
"Winning is seldom easy in this league," said Bookmiller.
