South Sydney's Bence Tosses Perfect Game
Even as he reached the pinnacle of baseball achievement, Keith Bence never broke a sweat.

The 29-year-old right-hander pitched a perfect game at Redfern Oval today for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, retiring 27 in a row.

"I still don't believe it," Keith Bence told reporters inside the Rabbitohs locker room, following the win. "Throwing a perfect game just doesn't seem real."

Bence was a picture of calm on the mound as he struck out 7 Melbourne hitters and walked none as the Rabbitohs took the 7-0 victory.

"I had the best control of my life today and it felt almost effortless," Bence said with a smile. "I never knew throwing a perfect game would be so easy."

On his stats sheet for the year Bence shows a 3-5 record, 11 starts, 62.1 innings, 35 strikeouts and a 4.91 ERA.
