Knights Win at Parramatta, 6-0
|
Essendon starter Justin Balman put a stranglehold on the Parramatta offense. The left-hander had complete command of his cutter in leading the Knights to a 6-0 win. The winning pitcher was Balman, now 7-2. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 5. The Knights bumped their record to 32-25 with this win.
Garrick Grendon had a big 2-run double for the Knights in the top of the first inning. With Essendon leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from Ieni Nagas and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 19th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Knights ahead, 3-0.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Balman.
