The Essendon Knights went home winners at Essendon Recreation Reserve, thanks in large part to starter Justin Balman. Balman stifled the Cronulla Sharks, enabling Essendon to grab the 5-1 win. The win elevated the Knights to 37-30.

Claud Gard, who is tied for 6th in the NL in total bases with 125, chipped in for Essendon with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
