Gard Hits 2 home runs in Knights Win
Claud Gard impressed in the 8-7 Essendon win over Penrith. Gard, who is tied for 5th in the NL in home runs with 13, was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The win belongs to Collin Wilday in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Jim Tolar took the loss for Penrith. The win puts Essendon at 38-33 this season.

Gard had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a full count changeup from Bob Mill, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Knights a 7-5 lead. It was the 13th home run of the year for Gard.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Essendon manager Phorgotten Son.
