Knights Walk It Off for 43rd Win of Season
|
The Essendon Knights had to overcome a fine performance from Parramatta pitcher Ieni Nagas to grab a 3-0 win at Essendon Recreation Reserve. Nagas allowed no runs over 7.1 innings. The winner was Isidoro Bassis in relief. His record improves to 2-3. David Hockenhull took the loss. With the win, Essendon raised its record to 43-34.
Claud Gard was the walk-off hero for Essendon. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Knights left fielder hit a dramatic 3-run home run to send the teams home.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Gard said in his postgame press conference.
