The Melbourne Demons got a stellar effort from pitcher Matthew Adam, helping Melbourne score a win over the visiting East Sydney Roosters, 2-0. Melbourne reliever Kylan Anlezark picked up the win to move to 3-2. Ron Anderson suffered the loss. The 8th-place Demons go to 40-46.

A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when center fielder Everton Leaper, who finished 5th in the NL in stolen bases with 20 last year, hit a double. The Demons went on to win.

"I had everything working," said Adam.
