The North Sydney Bears and Melbourne Demons played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.

The North Sydney Bears picked up a win at North Sydney Park, knocking off the Melbourne Demons, 3-1. Starting pitcher Ronnie Hookey was a big reason why. North Sydney has now won 5 games in a row.

Noel Wakeling, who finished 3rd in the WL in extra base hits with 69 in 2018, aided the North Sydney cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third. For the game, the right fielder drove in one run.

"Tough loss," said Melbourne manager Sean Morgan. "But we'll learn from it."
