For the home crowd, it was a thrilling walk-off win.

The Carlton Blues faced a tough opponent in Essendon pitcher Denis Beauvais, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Princes Park by a final score of 5-4. Beauvais went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. The first-place Blues have won 7 straight.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Carlton pinch hitter Ben Brennan, facing Collin Wilday, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Blues the 5-4 win.

"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Brennan.
