Great Effort by Giants 1B Woolgrove Not Enough in 7-6 Loss
The Parramatta Giants got a superb performance from first baseman Konrad Woolgrove. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Balmain. The Tigers won the game, 7-6. In spite of the loss, Woolgrove was named the player of the game. He was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Cec Palk got the win, improving to 2-3. He held the Giants to 4 earned runs on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 4. With the win, Balmain goes to 15-19, while the Giants fall to 12-22.

Darren Cant, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1986 draft, chipped in for Balmain with a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Cant said.
