Baseball fans saw a good contest between the North Sydney Bears and St. George Dragons.

The North Sydney Bears scored a tight 3-2 win versus the St. George Dragons at North Sydney Park. North Sydney pitcher Robbie Fountain held his own in the contest. Fountain got the win, improving to 11-2. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Fountain allowed 2 runs. Luke Sarkies picked up the save for North Sydney, his 28th of the year.

Had Conrad Verberne not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Verberne hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Bears.

"That's baseball," said St. George manager Robert Culmer. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."

The win makes North Sydney 66-41.
