Swans Get Past North Melbourne for 2-1 Win
|
North Melbourne got a big-time effort from pitcher John Messenger, but it wasn't enough to keep the South Melbourne Swans from winning the game, 2-1. Messenger threw 7.2 innings allowing 2 runs for the losing team. The second-place Swans have won 5 straight games.
Calvin Ingleby, the 25-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Ingleby contributed a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put South Melbourne up, 2-1.
"The want-to is there for our guys," said North Melbourne manager G Maloney. "We'll get this thing turned around."
