South Sydney Bats Go Silent in 1-0 Loss
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown South Sydney Rabbitohs take on the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.
The Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles got a magnificent effort from pitcher Shell Grogan, who kept South Sydney hitters in check en route to a 1-0 Sea Eagles win at Redfern Oval. Sean Musgrave sewed up the save, his 29th.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Clem Ballard? The Manly-Warringah right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Sea Eagles on top, 1-0. For the game, Ballard had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Grogan told the Manly-Warringah Bulletin. "And padding the Manly-Warringah win column."
The Sea Eagles now have a record of 59-50.
