The Essendon Knights did just enough to sneak past the Melbourne Demons, 4-3, at Essendon Recreation Reserve. Essendon pitcher Justin Balman, in particular, had a standout performance. The Knights have now won 5 straight.

Balman delivered a quality start for Essendon. The 6' 4" left-hander allowed no earned runs on 1 hit over 8 innings of work.
