Led by Asa Thatcher, the Cronulla Sharks defeated the North Sydney Bears, 6-1. Thatcher went 2-4 with a home run and a walk for the Sharks. Cronulla reliever Jeff Payling picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Zack Strode shouldered the loss. The Sharks, now 66-49, have won 4 in a row.

Willie Bendall, the 26-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Bendall contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put Cronulla up, 1-0.

"I thought we played a nice game," Thatcher told the Cronulla Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
