Geelong Cats starter Barney Porrett turned in a top-notch performance against the Melbourne Demons at Kardinia Park. The result was a win for the Cats, 2-1. Geelong, at 50-70, holds down last place in the National League.

Frederick Ella dealt the Demons a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with a runner on 3rd and Geelong leading 1-0, Ella hit a 1-2 curveball for a run-scoring single.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Ella told the Geelong Herald.
