McFadgean Hits 2 home runs in Blues Win
|
With right fielder Chris McFadgean leading the charge, the Carlton Blues defeated the Newcastle Bombers, 6-3, at Newcastle Park. McFadgean, who is tied for 5th in the NL in home runs with 5, was 4 for 4 with 2 home runs and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Michael Ferguson got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 4. The save went to Gerald Cardell, number 6 for him.
With Carlton leading 1-0 in the top of the first, McFadgean hit a fastball from Ray Strachan for a 2-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Blues ahead, 3-0.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," McFadgean told the Carlton Gazette.
Carlton is now 16-8.
