Kangaroos Bridle Knights, 2-1
|
Getting an impressive start from Terry Gunnis, North Melbourne beat Essendon by the score of 2-1. The save went to Herb Watcham, number 3 for him. North Melbourne goes to 11-15.
Had David Hockley not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Hockley hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Kangaroos.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Gunnis.
