Bombers Rally For 6-4 Win
|
Newcastle and Collingwood duked it out and the Bombers came out victorious.
The Newcastle Bombers faced a tough opponent in Collingwood pitcher Frazer Tarapu, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Victoria Park by a final score of 6-4. Tarapu went 5.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. The win belongs to Alf Ross in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Bill Rushworth took the loss for Collingwood.
Newt Dingle, the 33-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Dingle contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Newcastle up, 5-4.
"We take it day by day here," said Dingle, "and today was a good one for us."
The win puts Newcastle at 2-1.
