Roosters Improve to 23-18 with 3-1 Win
|
In a low-scoring clash between East Sydney and Penrith, pitcher Randolph Clyde was a difference-maker. The left-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 win. Clyde, the winner, moves to 6-3. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 1 walk. Les Barthorpe sewed up the save, his 12th.
The Roosters got a big at-bat from shortstop Joel Nicholson. For the game, Nicholson was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave East Sydney a 3-1 lead.
"We'll savor this win," Nicholson told the East Sydney Herald, "then get ready for the next game."
With the win, East Sydney pushed its record to 23-18.
