Had Leon Mortimer not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Mortimer hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Demons.

"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Mortimer told the Melbourne Observer.
