Armstrong and Mowbray Brawl, League Suspends Them
Monday, March 3rd, 1997
After an intense confrontation, both the Kangaroos Rhys Armstrong and the Pumas Joe Mowbray were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent Dee Why-Blacktown game. Rhys Armstrong will miss 2 games, while Joe Mowbray was suspended for 6 games.

"Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Rhys Armstrong commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play."

Armstrong has a .323 average and a .412 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 114 hits, 9 home runs and driven in 61 runs.

To date this season Mowbray has compiled a 0-4 record with a 6.75 ERA in 10 starts.
