Battams Wins VBL Player of the Week Prize Monday, February 23rd, 1998 David Battams had a week for the ages as he romped to the Victorian Baseball League Player of the Week Award. The happy-go-lucky 35-year-old still plays ball like a kid, mashing and slashing as he goes. The Collingwood Magpies right fielder hit .476 last week as he chalked up 10 hits in 21 at-bats, 4 home runs, 9 RBIs and 5 runs scored. This year Battams has hit at a .302 clip with 118 hits, 39 home runs, 88 RBIs and 89 runs scored. |
