Brandon Makes History, Wins Triple Crown
Friday, March 7th, 1997
Paul Brandon is sitting on top of the world tonight. He got himself a Triple Crown this year -- the 9th player in VBL history to ever accomplish this feat.

The Carlton Blues right fielder outpaced the rest of the Victorian Baseball League offensively this year. Brandon, age 26, hit .389, collected 44 home runs, and chipped in 107 RBIs for the Blues. He led in all three categories to capture the Triple Crown, one of the rarer feats in baseball.

"It's all about hard work," noted one club official. "Paul arrives early, takes extra BP and really make a science of hitting. He religiously studies the pitchers. Keeps a journal on all of 'em. He's very thorough."
