Gomez Wins Suburban Baseball League Pitching Crown Tuesday, August 30th , 2022 This past season Jose Gomez put on quite a show in the Suburban Baseball League. In 25 starts he posted a 9-6 record for Hawthorn to capture the 2022 Pitcher of the Year Award. In 25 starts and 148.1 innings, Gomez yielded 147 hits, holding the opposition to a .263 average. He chalked up 111 strikeouts and posted a 2.79 ERA. He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Rhys Drewery of the Coburg Bankers finished second in voting, while Walt Mumford of the Sandringham Zebras finished third.
