Win Sends Newark HS to Next Round
The stakes were high at Abbots Ballpark today as two MLB High School 2 clubs looked to advance in the quest toward the World Series.

In the end, the Newark HS Magicians knocked off the San Jose HS Abbots in the Wildcard Series, by a score of 11-8. After the one-game playoff win, the team will move on to the Division Series.

"We never stopped believing," said Newark HS first baseman Josh Baumann. "All season long we expected to be going deep in the playoffs and we still feel that way. We're going to be a tough team for anyone to handle in the playoffs."

Baumann went 4-for-5 in the win and took home the game MVP award.

, manager of the Abbots, said he was proud of his club's efforts and said he believed that, with a few more breaks, it could have been his club advancing.

The Newark HS Magicians will play against the Tempe HS Dukes in the next round. Tempe HS had a bye in the Wildcard Series. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes.
