Brewers Score Late, Clip Expos, 3-2
|
Good production from third baseman Latrell Whalum helped the Milwaukee Brewers topple the Montreal Expos, 3-2. Whalum was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Brewers. Milwaukee reliever Bobby Dedmon picked up the win, raising his record to 2-2. Shamar Blakes was tagged with the loss. Mike Bailey converted his 36th save in 41 tries.
Had Whalum not come through in the top of the eighth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Whalum hit a run-scoring single. The Brewers took the lead, 3-2, and never looked back.
"Every loss hurts," said Montreal manager Michael Leslie. "But this was a tough one."
The win lifted the Milwaukee record to 70-57.
