Mariners Best Angels in Pitching Duel
|
Both offenses were relatively subdued at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Fortunately for the Seattle Mariners, though, Juan Mireles was able to deliver in the clutch. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, to lead his team past the Los Angeles Angels, 2-0. Joe Edney picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-1. Eric Foy was tagged with the loss. Damani Degrate was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.
With Seattle leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Mireles hit a sinker from Eric Foy for a solo home run. It was his 23rd home run of the season and put the Mariners ahead, 2-0.
In postgame remarks, Mireles applauded his team's "business-like approach."
The win puts Seattle at 73-55 this season.
