Guardians Score Late, Top Red Sox, 6-4
|
2053 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Boston Red Sox.
The Boston Red Sox could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Eric Plattner into a win. Instead, the Cleveland Guardians prevailed, 6-4. Plattner threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. Kevin Hunt recorded the save, making him 36 for 42.
It could have been a different outcome for Cleveland, had it not been for Steve Noto, the 27-year old designated hitter . Noto contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Cleveland up, 5-4.
Said Cleveland manager Eric DuBose: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
The win boosted Cleveland to 81-69.
