Rockies Claw Out 2-1 Win
|
Runs were at a premium in the Vancouver-San Francisco matchup.
San Francisco wasted a solid 9-inning effort from starting pitcher Luis Meza, losing to Vancouver, 2-1, at AT&T Park. Bob Vice got the save, his 3rd in 8 chances.
Vancouver relied on the hitting of Mike Queen to pick up the win. The designated hitter ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the sixth inning to put the Rockies on top, 2-0. For the game, Queen had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Vancouver skipper Matt Hill. "I can't complain."
Vancouver goes to 91-63. The win puts them 12 games up in their division.
