Mariners Lose, 7-5, in 13
The Vancouver Rockies defeated the Seattle Mariners, 7-5, in 13 innings. Mike Queen, who led the NL in stolen bases with 73 last year, played a big role. Queen was 3 for 5 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Rockies in the win. The win was credited to Erik Castleman in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Chris Miller took the loss. Getting the save was Bob Vice, his 2nd.

Vancouver used a timely hit from Kevin Jeffers to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 13th inning to put the Rockies ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

Queen told a Vancouver Today reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.

The Rockies, now 6-3, have played some good baseball in the early going.
