Diamond Scorchers Win Nail-Biter
The Arizona Diamond Scorchers finished things off in style.

Arizona starter Scotty Boyd pitched well against the New Orleans Crawdaddy's at Old League Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-4, in 14 innings. Bruce Hampton snagged the win in relief. He goes to 6-5 on the season. Ralph Adams suffered the loss.

The Diamond Scorchers got a clutch hit from second baseman Mario Cruz. In the bottom of the 14th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Diamond Scorchers.

"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Cruz.

Arizona, at 72-81, holds down last place in the Adams League Shultz Division.
