Norfolk pitcher Rick Griffin had a large part in his team beating the Hoboken Nine, 5-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Griffin got the win, improving to 8-6. He gave up 7 hits and walked 0 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. The current losing streak for Hoboken has reached 7 games.
The Atlantics got a big at-bat from second baseman Steve MacIntosh. For the game, MacIntosh was 1 for 5 with a double. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 17th double of the season gave Norfolk a 1-0 lead.
