The Welch Miners topped the Burlington Royals, 4-2, in Appalachian League action at Burlington Athletic Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Welch pitcher Marc Galicia. Galicia picked up the win for Welch, going 6 innings. He gave up no runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 3-1. Sid Beach closed the door for Welch, picking up his 8th save of the year.

Welch used the timely hitting of Grant Vansyckle to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Miners ahead, 4-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
