Welch got a first-rate effort from pitcher Yosnier Escarcega, who frustrated Helena hitters en route to a 3-1 Miners triumph at Welch Fields. The 7th-place Brewers have lost 5 straight games.

The Miners got a big at-bat from shortstop Ciprian Sánchez. For the game, Sánchez went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Welch a 2-0 lead.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Sánchez said.
