The New York Yankees topped the New York Mets, 6-4, with first baseman Isaiah Howerton playing a big role. Howerton went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Yankees in the win. New York reliever Brian Kuester picked up the win to move to 1-1. Ethan Ponzio suffered the loss. New York drops to 14-16.

Howerton had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a full count fastball from J.D. Taylor, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Yankees a 6-3 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Howerton.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Howerton said after the game.
