Kumquats Beat Quahogs, 6-5
|
The Kissimmee Kumquats picked up a win at Surprise Stadium, taking down the Buckeye Quahogs, 6-5. Starting pitcher Evan McConnell was a big reason why. In 6 innings, McConnell surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. The 4th-place Kumquats now have a win-loss record of 15-12.
Achilles Wells, the 18-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Wells contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the second inning to put Kissimmee up, 2-1.
"It's a mindset," said McConnell. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
