Late Rally Gets 6-3 Win for Reds
|
Despite a fine performance by second baseman Marco Palma, the Virginia Black Bears lost to the Cincinnati Reds, 6-3. Palma was 4 for 4 with a triple and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Cincinnati pitcher Roger Jenkins got the win, upping his record to 1-2. R.J. Slaven got the loss. Andrés Velasco closed the game out for Cincinnati, earning his 6th save.
José Maria Andres provided a timely hit. The Cincinnati first baseman delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Reds on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"Winning is the only objective," said Andres after the game.
The Reds' win now puts them at 17-19.
