Red Sox Best Ignition in Pitching Duel
|
Fans watched the Boston Red Sox and the Indianapolis Ignition fight to the finish.
Starting pitcher Mike Mason had a solid game. He was a big reason the Boston Red Sox throttled the Indianapolis Ignition, 2-1. Jayden Spencer earned the save, his 7th, for the Red Sox.
The Red Sox got an important contribution from designated hitter Christian Gibbs, who in the bottom of the fourth punched a first pitch slider into right for a solo home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Red Sox ahead, 2-0.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Indianapolis manager Jose Gomez, "let me know."
The last-place Red Sox go to 16-23.
