The bats were silent much of the day at Blues Stadium. But Brian Ottman conjured up just enough offense to carry the Expos past the Memphis Blues, 3-0. Ottman was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Elliott Raber earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 4-1. Montreal currently is in second place in the Eastern Region North Division at 23-17.

With Montreal leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Ottman hit a cutter from Leighton Rodriques for a 2-run double. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Expos ahead, 3-0.

"I like our mindset right now," said Montreal manager Dirk Botelho.
