The Durham Bulls topped the Syracuse Chiefs, 4-3, in International League action at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The standout performance belonged to Durham pitcher and Richardson, Texas, native Lyle Gibbs. Kraig Colon finished to wrap up his 18th save. The first-place Bulls go to 55-39.

Had Aydan Mettler not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Mettler hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Bulls.

"I still think this team can play even better," Mettler told the Durham News.
