Blue Jays Win, 4-1, at New York
|
Pitcher Alfonzo Jiménez was sensational for the Toronto Blue Jays in his team's 4-1 triumph over the New York Yankees. Jiménez picked up the win, and it was well-earned. The winning pitcher was Jiménez, now 15-4. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 9. Vincent Prudhomme closed it out for his 15th save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Ernie Brox? The Toronto right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 4-1. For the game, Brox had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We missed opportunities once again," said losing manager Nate Williams.
The losing streak for New York has now reached 6 games.
