Black Bears Topple Phillies, 9-4, as Christiansen Shines
|
The performance of Jordan Christiansen proved critical in helping Virginia beat Philadelphia, 9-4. The Black Bears catcher went 4 for 4 with 4 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. B.J. Langenburg, credited with the win, is now 3-2. He allowed no runs on 3 hits. The Black Bears have now won 6 straight.
In the bottom of the sixth, Virginia pinch hitter Mike Fisher put his team on top. With two out and a runner on 1st, he hit his 22nd home run of the year. Philadelphia pitcher Kevin Lushbaugh served it up. Just like that, the Black Bears were ahead, 5-4.
"I believe in our guys," said Virginia skipper Jacob Crenshaw. "I like the energy they're playing with."
